چکیده

Due to the widespread use of pesticides and lack floral resources in many agricultural landscapes, beekeepers have moved numerous honey bee colonies protected areas which could shelter an important diversity wild bees. Here, we investigated seasonal dynamics competition between bees through a two-year study plant–bee networks Mediterranean area. We recorded visitation rates four groups: bees, small large bumblebees. Our reveals that for induced by is especially strong during early spring then decreases along season all groups observed competitive exclusion illustrated avoidance well-flowered plant species presence As consequence, detected rewiring preferences linked In Rosmarinus officinalis Cistus albidus were significantly less visited This underlines need mitigate establishment as strongly affect foraging activity

Wild bees enhance honey bees' pollination of hybrid sunflower.

Pollinators are required for producing 15-30% of the human food supply, and farmers rely on managed honey bees throughout the world to provide these services. Yet honey bees are not always the most efficient pollinators of all crops and are declining in various parts of the world. Crop pollination shortages are becoming increasingly common. We found that behavioral interactions between wild and...

European foulbrood in honey bees.

European foulbrood (EFB) is a severe bacterial brood disease caused by the Gram-positive bacterium Melissocccus plutonius. The disease has a worldwide distribution and is an increasing problem in some areas. Cocaine Tolerance in Honey Bees

Increasingly invertebrates are being used to investigate the molecular and cellular effects of drugs of abuse to explore basic mechanisms of addiction. However, in mammals the principle factors contributing to addiction are long-term adaptive responses to repeated drug use. Here we examined whether adaptive responses to cocaine are also seen in invertebrates using the honey bee model system. Re...

Taste Perception in Honey Bees

Taste is crucial for honeybees for choosing profitable food sources, resins, water sources, and for nestmate recognition. Peripheral taste detection occurs within cuticular hairs, the chaetic and basiconic sensilla, which host gustatory receptor cells and, usually a mechanoreceptor cell. Gustatory sensilla are mostly located on the distal segment of the antennae, on the mouthparts, and on the t...
